Norwalk families have until February 15 to apply to get their Kindergartener into the Mano a Mano two-way dual language immersion program at Silvermine Elementary School.

“Silvermine offers a two-way dual language immersion K-5 program in which students learn language and content in both English and Spanish. The program’s goals are for all students to achieve high language proficiency, academic excellence, and positive cross-cultural attitudes through the use of both languages. This program is open to all Norwalk residents regardless of their language backgrounds,” according to a statement from Norwalk Public Schools.

Applications are available through the Norwalk Public Schools website and in Silvermine’s main office. Click here.

An informational night will be held at the school from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Jan. 26; childcare will be provided, the release said, adding, “We strongly encourage all those who are interested in applying to attend.”

Interested families can visit the school by scheduling a visit at 10 a.m. on Feb. 1, 2, or 3. Applications are due Feb. 15 and students will be selected through a lottery process.
