Two cornerstones of our work is Community Engagement and Policy & Advocacy. Our first Civic Influencer Program began in April and commenced in June with 16 Norwalk residents ages 15 and older.
Outcomes of the program include:
- skills to leverage lived experiences
- direction on navigating political spaces and effect change within the local government & school district
- and an in-depth understanding how civic participation can reshape systems and power structures in the community.
How our Civic Influencer Program’s was developed is featured in this StriveTogether article, “Harnessing the Network Effect: Amplifying community voices, driving change.”
The Norwalk ACTS Backbone Staff connected with the Rocky Mountain Partnership to learn about their Civic Influencer Strategy. StriveTogether named this type of collaboration, The Network Effect – putting the right people together in the right place at the right time to inspire real action.
