Workshop: “Beads of Privilege”

May 16 @ 10:00 am - 12:30 pm

Person-to-Person presents an informative and interactive

workshop for all P2P volunteers and staff.

What:

The purpose of the ‘Beads of Privilege’ workshop is to learn to recognize how privilege can affect our lives even when we are not aware it is happening. The purpose is not to blame anyone for having privilege, but to have an opportunity to identify both obstacles and benefits experienced in our life.

  • Learn how to better recognize your own privilege
  • Learn about conceptualizations of race, privilege, and inequity
  • Learn how to use privileges individually and collectively to work for social justice
  • Identify injustice and how it manifests

When:

Choose one of two sessions (we rescheduled due to a snow day):

  • Wednesday, May 16 from 10-12:30 @ Stepping Stones Museum, Norwalk
  • Thursday, May 17 from 10-12:30 @ St. Luke’s YCC, Darien

Sign up: http://www.signupgenius.com/go/20f0549aca92ba0fb6-p2pvolunteer5 or in the Volunteer Offices.

Workshop is presented by NCCJ; National Conference for Community and Justice.

P2P is pleased to provide these informative training sessions thanks to the generosity of Lone Pine Foundation.
